Comservative Catholic Hypocrisy Over Obama Visit To Notre Dame

posted in: Politics, Religion — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 10:03 pm

Just a really short post on this topic. I see on Fox news where the conservative catholics are against Obama visiting and giving a speech there. They say because he is pro-choice and not catholic, he should not be invited. They say Notre Dame should refuse to show they are upholding their moral principles and that they are taking a stand.

Ok, let’s say we agree with that. I don’t, but for the sake of argument let’s take that policy one step further. Let’s apply it to the Notre Dame Football team as well. No more non-catholic football players for Notre Dame. No more Notre Dame football players who have not declared publicly that they are anti-abortion under any circumstances.

Sure, Notre dame will never be in another championship or even in the Top 20 most likely, but who cares, at least the conservative catholics will have imposed their beliefs and upheld their moral stance.

If they do not do that with their football team, then they are hypocrites when they say it should apply to having the president visit.

Give Obama Some Time!

posted in: Politics — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 9:34 pm

Fox News and others are so anxious to blame the economy on Barack Obama that they will say anything. He just took office January 20th. That is 48 days ago.

The economy did not go bad in 48 days. The economy is a huge problem. But if you listen to Fox news, you’d think they believe it should be solved already, otherwise Obama isn’t doing his job.

It took Bush 8 years to ruin the economy and destroy the surplus left over from the Clinton administration. You think it might take more than 48 days to solve it?

The republican strategy is to give Obama ownership of the economic situation and make people forget it was Bush who got us here. It happened on his watch. You can say Barney Franks, the senate, the house, or whatever you want, but it was under George Bush’s watch. Under Bush’s leadership, that it happened.

Obama is moving as fast as he can and trying not to make too many mistakes, but that isn’t enough for the critics, especially rush limbaugh the dope addict.

Rush Limbaugh is the symbol of the republican party. That is really sad. If limbaugh represents republican ideals, they will never win another election. The limbaugh-hannity crowd are a small, small, minority of the republican party, but they have listeners so you hear from them the most.

I believe most republicans are not like hannity or limbaugh, but the others refuse to speak up and condemn the actions and words of these two radical extremists. Until they grow a pair and denounce the radicals like limbaugh, the republican party is doomed. limbaugh is the best friend the democrats have. Every time he opens his mouth, he hurts the republican party.

Like when he said that Michael J. Fox was just pretending to shake to bring attention to parkinson’s disease. He got kicked off ESPN for his racist remarks. He wants Obama to fail, which means the economy will fail, more jobs will be lost, and much worse, money would have to be redirected from things like the war on terrorism to p-ut into the economy. But all that doesn’t matter to rush limbaugh.

Only three things matter to rush limbaugh.

1. His ratings.

2. Electing a republican no matter if he is the best person for the job or not.

3. A steady supply of oxycontin.

Adobe Dreamweaver Sucks

posted in: Main — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 12:04 am

You know I hate wysiwyg editors and don’t be one of thepeople who claims adobe dreamweaver is not a wysiwyg editor. It’s front page in a different package.

Adobe dreamweaver is a resource hog, it’s slow, and not worth the effort to install it at all. The adobe updater is even a resource hog and slow. Uninstalling this garbage program is even a slow process.

Typical of all adobe products though as far as resources used. They make the slowest software of any company.

I normally write web pages in a txt file, but so many people out there were saying “Oh you should try dreamweaver!”, that I decided to give it a try. What a waste of time that was.

I know you dreamweaver lovers will come argue about how great it is. Seriously, as much as I love comments on my blog, save your efforts for someone you may be able to convince, because I will never use adobe dreamweaver or other adobe products besides the necessary adobe pdf software, even though they have even made that load slower and made it more of a resource hog as well.

It’s as if adobe programmers hated anything that actually loads fast and uses less resources and they have amandate to slow everything down as much as possible.

They aren’t the only ones. I didn’t like how slow and bulky adobe photoshop is so I switched to Paint Shop Pro by Jasc Software. It was much faster and used less resources and less of my time. The Corel bought it and made a new version of paint shop pro that runs almost as slow as photoshop now. I guess Corel’s goal is to be more like adobe and they too want to slow everyone down.

Ok, rant over.dreamweaver is finally uninstalled in the time it took to write this post. Good riddance.

Sarah Palin Helps Democrats

posted in: News, Politics — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 11:04 am

Someone has to say it. Sarah Palin is the best thing to happen to democrats in years. Her inexperience, mistakes, and rhetoric during the campaign helped Obama win the election.

And now, top republicans are talking about her running for president in 2012. I sure hope she doesn’t do anything to change their minds about that. The democrats would defeat her easily.

But I believe that republicans are a smart bunch when it comes to elections even though they lost this one. I believe they don’t think they can beat Obama in 2012 and they will run Sarah Palin because they know they won’t win.

They will save better candidates for the real run in 2016. Oh, of course Romney and Giuliani and Hucklebee will all run against Sarah in the primaries and the republicans will back the winner and make a run at Obama, but those are not the best candidates the republicans have to offer.

They have others they are grooming for a run at the presidency and will wait until 2016 to unveil the biggest, best funded, and hardest campaign in history to take back the whitehouse in 2016.

On a lighter note, Fox News really picked the best person to interview Sarah Palin. Greta Van Susteren. Why you ask?

Well, Brit Hume was talking to Great about her interview, which Fox News has been calling “Sarah Palin Unplugged”, a reference to the MTV sessions with musicians like Eric Clapton Unplugged, etc.

But when Brit Hume referred to the name, Sarah Palin Unplugged, Greta became indignant, saying, Sarah Palin isn’t unplugged. I don’t think it’s fair to her to say she is unplugged. She’s handling this very well.

So, to have greta not knowing what unplugged referred to interviewing Sarah Palin who doesn’t know if Africa is a country or a continent or what countries are part of NAFTA really shows that Fox News knows how to match the perfect interviewer with their favorite candidates.

Empire Earth 3 and Other Game Developers

posted in: Consumer Protection — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 3:45 am

Yeah, I still like to play pc games. Forget consoles, wiis, and such. I’m an old school pc gamer. I bought the game Empire Earth because i liked Age of Empires and thought it would be different. it was. Good game.

Then I bought the expansion pack and liked it too. Nothing to piss me off about the game . . . well, except the constant “you’re under attack” thing. I mean, you are pretty much always under attack, but the same voice, over and over again telling me i’m under attack gets very annoying very fast.

But this post is about Empire Earth 3. I bought it because I liked the first versions of the game. I thought cool! There must be new stuff!

Well it turns out I was right. There is. The game developers at Sirra in their ultimate wisdom decided the map creator was much much too easy to use in the first versions and I suppose they decided that gamers would much rather have a much more difficult time building new maps and scenarios.

Why do developers do this? It isn’t just games, it’s also with software. You get used to using some software or playing a game and when the company makes a newer version they do everything they can to make sure you have to learn everything all over again.

They move buttons to new locations, add difficulty to tasks that used to be easy, and add in new features we don’t even want.

If programmers and developers are so smart, why can’t they figure out the simplest of things like ONCE WE LIKE THE SOFTWARE MAJOR CHANGES ARE NOT AN IMPROVEMENT AND NOT WELCOME BY YOUR USERS!

Now at least I have a new coaster to use. The empire earth 3 cd is a nice place for my coffee cup and thats all it is good for.

Wascally Wabbit - Darwin Awards

posted in: Main — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 12:26 pm

The Darwin Awards is a great website. It tells stories about some of the dumbest people on earth and why those people aren’t with us anymore and how the gene pool protects itself.

Snowmobiles and alcohol are a dangerous mix. Then came the rabbit.
After a day spent partying and racing snowmobiles in the wilderness, a group of snowmobilers were headed back to their cabin, when up popped a jackrabbit! They gave chase. Several collisions were narrowly averted, and so all the snowmobiles backed off… except one.

This snowmobiler kept his eye on the quarry and rapidly closed in. The rabbit darted aside to save itself. The snowmobiler closed in again. The rabbit ran toward the road, where there was less snow. Trying to ram his rabbit before it crossed the road, the man accelerated to Mach 1.

Dumbest Warning Labels on Products

posted in: Consumer Protection — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 11:31 am

Ok, when you read some of the warning labels put on products, you can assume one of two things. Either a really dumb lawyer wrote them or someone has done these things in the past and the company had to add the warning label as a result. I think the latter is the case most of the time.

Ashtrays: “Never use lighter fluid, kerosene, gasoline, or any other flammable liquid to clean your ashtray.”

Windex: Do not spray in eyes.

Laser printer manufacturer Ricoh warns customers: Do not eat toner

Arm & Hammer Scoopable Cat Litter: Safe to use around pets.

label for an abdominal-exercising machine: Caution: Do not close your eyes while driving.

Hair Coloring: Do not use as an ice cream topping.

Calvin klein Shirt label: Keep away from fire.

Mattress: Warning: Do not attempt to swallow.

On a Jar of Wegman’s Peanut Butter: Allergens; Contains Peanuts. Made in a plant that processes tree nuts.

Pepper Spray: Caution: Never aim spray at your own eyes.

Sleep Aid Medicine: May cause drowsiness.

Hair Dryer: Warning: Do not use while sleeping.

Chainsaw Warning: WARNING: Do Not Hold Wrong End of Chainsaw.

Road Sign: Caution water on road during rain.

Washing machine: WARNING: Do Not Put Person in Washing Machine

Air Conditioner: Caution: Avoid dropping air conditioners out of windows.

On a Fuel Tank Cap: WARNING: Do Not Use a Lit Match to Check Fuel Level.

Slush Puppy Cup: This ice may be cold.

baby stroller made by Century: Remove Child Before Folding.

Tesco’s Tiramisu dessert: (printed on bottom of the box): Do not turn upside down.

A household iron made by Rowenta Inc: Never iron clothes while they are being worn.

Curling Iron: Warning: This product can burn eyes.

Two warnings on a handheld hairdryer: The first: “Don’t use while sleeping.” And: “Don’t use at an intensive care station when oxygen is in use.”

Microwave Oven: Do not use for drying pets.

Instructions for a cordless phone: Do not put lit candles on phone.

Small print from a car commercial which shows a vehicle “body-surfing” at a concert: Always drive on roads. Not on people.

Toilet brush: Do not use for personal hygiene.

Box of household nails: CAUTION! - Do NOT swallow nails! May cause irritation!

Container of salt: Warning: High in sodium.

Hose Nozzle: Do not spray into electrical outlet.

Black and Decker Drill: Do not use as a dental drill.

Thermometer: Once used rectally, this thermometer should not be used orally.

Ok, those are all real warning labels. Maybe we should add some new warning labels like;

On an Airbag: To activate, start car, press gas pedal all the way down while aiming directly toward brick wall.

Are we just getting dumber or what?

Insulting Colin Powell Because of His Endorsement of Barack Obama

posted in: Politics — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 2:56 pm

Conservative republicans really like to talk about patriotism. They really like to talk about the freedom Americans enjoy. But in reality, they are the most unpatriotic group of people there is. They only believe in your rights and freedoms if you agree with them. You are only a patriot, if you agree with them.

If Colin Powell had endorsed McCain, Limbaugh, Hannity, and others would have been saying how important Colin Powell is and how important his endorsement was.

But since it went to Obama, they say Colin Powell only endorsed Barack Obama because of race.

Limbaugh is a racist, pure and simple. Any person of color who votes for Barack Obama is only doing so because he is black. He is saying that black people only consider race when voting. He gives black people no credit for being able to see past race and think for themselves.

Rush Limbaugh is the worst of the worst with hannity not far behind him. Both of them represent a very dangerous element of our society. They represent intolerance. They are as close to the definition of fascists as anyone can be.

dictionary results for: Fascist
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1)

fas·cist –noun 1. a person who believes in or sympathizes with fascism.
2. (often initial capital letter) a member of a fascist movement or party.
3. a person who is dictatorial or has extreme right-wing views.
-adjective

dictionary results for: Fascism
Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1)
fas·cism –noun 1. (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
2. (sometimes initial capital letter) the philosophy, principles, or methods of fascism.
3. (initial capital letter) a fascist movement, esp. the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922–43.

[Fascism is] a genuinely revolutionary, trans-class form of anti-liberal, and in the last analysis, anti conservative nationalism. As such it is an ideology deeply bound up with modernization and modernity, one which has assumed a considerable variety of external forms to adapt itself to the particular historical and national context in which it appears, and has drawn a wide range of cultural and intellectual currents, both left and right, anti-modern and pro-modern, to articulate itself as a body of ideas, slogans, and doctrine. In the inter-war period it manifested itself primarily in the form of an elite-led “armed party” which attempted, mostly unsuccessfully, to generate a populist mass movement through a liturgical style of politics and a programme of radical policies which promised to overcome a threat posed by international socialism, to end the degeneration affecting the nation under liberalism, and to bring about a radical renewal of its social, political and cultural life as part of what was widely imagined to be the new era being inaugurated in Western civilization. The core mobilizing myth of fascism which conditions its ideology, propaganda, style of politics and actions is the vision of the nation’s imminent rebirth from decadence. – Roger Griffin, The palingenetic core of generic fascist ideology

Neo-fascism is a post-World War II ideology that includes significant elements of fascism. Neo-fascism usually includes nationalism, anti-immigration policies or, where relevant, nativism (see definition), anti-communism, and opposition to the parliamentary system and liberal democracy. Neo-fascist movements are more straight-forwardly right-wing than the pre-WWII movements, and have become intertwined with the radical right.

This is a serious thing I’m talking about here. Neo-Cons are attacking barack Obama based on race, trying to associate him with terrorists, trying to make people believe he is a muslim, accusing him of being a socialist, and inventing every lie to try to hold onto power.

Bush and his administration have helped to pass laws that invade our privacy and limit our freedoms all while telling us about the people who threaten our way of life.

Like it or not, that is exactly what Hitler did. It’s no coincidence that George bush’s grandfather also did business with Hitler during WW2. You can say it’s reach if you want, but the radical right has taken over the republican party and they have elements of fascism involved.

George Bush’s grandfather, the late US senator Prescott Bush, was a director and shareholder of companies that profited from their involvement with the financial backers of Nazi Germany.
The Guardian has obtained confirmation from newly discovered files in the US National Archives that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism.

His business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, has led more than 60 years later to a civil action for damages being brought in Germany against the Bush family by two former slave labourers at Auschwitz and to a hum of pre-election controversy.

The evidence has also prompted one former US Nazi war crimes prosecutor to argue that the late senator’s action should have been grounds for prosecution for giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

The Rest of The Story about George Prescott Bush here

You may not want to believe that we have a radical right-wing party that borders on fascism, but if you look at it objectively, there is evidence. Those who do lean towards fascism don’t even realize they do. If you are one of these or think you may be, you should read those definitions to see what fascism or neo-fascism is.

Colin Powell has served our country well. These people who attack him for using his right to choose the presidential candidate of his choice, a right he fought for, are fascists and should be outed as such.

John McCain Keating 5 S & L Failures and Today’s Financial Crisis

posted in: Politics — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 4:27 pm

This documentary is extremely relevant right now. It’s about John McCain, as part of the Keating 5, and how he was involved in the failure and subsequent bailout of over 100 savings and loans. With banks closing right now, John Mccain is the last person to say he can help as President.

Barack Obama should be letting people know more about this. John McCain and his supporters constantly try to make false associations about Obama with other people. John McCain really was involved with the S & L Scandal.

Spammers and Scammers - Russian Spammers Launch New Attack

posted in: Consumer Protection — Chris McElroy aka NameCritic @ 3:36 am

Spam is becoming increasingly dangerous rather than just annoying. Seriously, if you are still opening spam email and even responding to some of it then you really need a reality check. Many people blame the whole spam issue on users who are too lazy or too dumb to learn about spam.

By email or hurricane, floods spell bad news — plus new ID theft laws detailed

The Russians are coming. No, seriously. That’s the word among email security and spam experts. A flood of malicious email from Russia is turning up in inboxes all over the world, most notably in the US.

We have more details in this week’s roundup of the scam headlines. Plus, talking of floods, we’re sorry but not surprised to discover that the Hurricane Ike scams we recently warned about are already adding to the misery of storm victims in a big way.

Also in this week’s Scamlines, we report on new laws to hit back at identity thieves, a sneaky camera trick to capture PIN numbers and, staying with the camera theme, a conspiracy in Italy that leads to thousands of motorists being photographed driving through stop lights.

And how about being tricked into paying for someone else’s soda? We’ve got that covered too.
